BRIEF PERSONAL/WEBSITE BIO
The concept behind this site was conceived in late 2005 while I was in the midst of a desperate search for old Get Up Kids rare and live media. I was initially disappointed to find that pre-On A Wire audio and video boots seemed impossible to find. And even more frustrating, it seemed like fellow GUK fans didn’t even share the same enthusiasm to locate these rarities. I was even told once to accept the fact that the media I was searching for simply “does not exist.”
To make a very long story short, via the internet I eventually got in touch with a few people who told me they could help. One of these contacts said he had an old VHS tape I might be interested in. He mailed me the tape that day, and I soon after I was watching a GUK show from 1997, filmed in what appeared to be a home basement.
After the ball got rolling, it didn’t stop. I posted these video clips on the internet and was contacted by more people with more videos and more leads. In the end I was being mailed not only GUK shows, but videos of other bands from the same era and similar genres.
As a videographer by profession, I had the necessary means to digitally convert these old VHS tapes and be the first to distribute them over the internet. Unfortunately, I was without an actual website, and all of my sharing was done over AIM with people I’d already met during my searches. This method of circulation was obviously not the most effective.
Finally, over a year later I have my own a URL and sufficient webspace. I have hosted a few videos for download, and I promise many more are on their way. If you can contribute in any way with any band, please do. I wish to make this a valuable source for fans like myself.
I do apologize that I’m not a web designer. This is my first website and I just wanted it to “work” for downloading videos. Please do not hesitate to offer suggestions. I’ll do my best to consider them, but please remember I do not have unlimited funds or time to work on this project. --And I’m only using iWeb :)
